Horizon Cuts Fares For WW Business Travelers

Lowest Walkup Fare For Last Minute Flyers Now $135 One-Way.

Walla Walla — Business travelers and others who make last minute travel plans to Seattle are getting a price break when they fly from Walla Walla Regional Airport. Horizon Air just reduced their lowest walkup fare to $135 one-way—a 37 percent reduction.

Walkup fares are most popular with business travelers because tickets can be purchased up to and including the day of travel and can be changed or refunded without penalty.

“Now, in addition to enjoying the close by convenience of Walla Walla Regional Airport, business travelers to Seattle can save money, too,” said Jim Kuntz, executive director of the Port of Walla Walla, which oversees operation of the airport. “And everybody can save money when they fly from Walla Walla because the parking is free,” said Kuntz.

Horizon Air offers three daily nonstop flights from Walla Walla with 37-seat Q200 turboprops. In addition to accommodating point-to-point travel between Walla Walla and Seattle, the flights are timed to make connections to dozens of other popular business and leisure destinations throughout the West served by Horizon Air, Alaska Airlines, and their airline partners.

The new $135 oneway price is the lowest virtually unrestricted fare Horizon offers to Seattle but is by no means the airline’s lowest price. Horizon’s lowest nonrefundable fare to Seattle is $90 each way and limited time nonrefundable sale fares to Seattle recently have been as low as $49 each way. These sale prices, which are available for travel on certain days of the week, require a roundtrip purchase made 7-14 days in advance and a Friday or Saturday night stay before returning.

Kuntz said travelers bound for destinations beyond Seattle will usually save more money if they buy one ticket using a through fare the airline offers from Walla Walla to their final destination rather than buying two separate tickets. “I’ve seen through fares from Walla Walla to Los Angeles that are only $50 more roundtrip than what you would pay out of Seattle. That little difference and our free parking represent a good value to Walla Walla residents,” he said.

According to Horizon officials an additional $4.50 passenger facility charge, $3 segment tax and $2.50 September 11th Security Fee applies each way to all flight segments.

Horizon reservations are available through travel agents, on the Web at horizonair.com, or by calling 1-800-547-9308.
